magazine draft and Layout Plan

Above is my first draft of my magazine cover. I used a picture taken of myself in a photo studio however I decided to change the background to a tie-dye image as this reflects my genre of rock. The title, “rock today” is a good title as it is simple and informs the reader of what the magazine is about, and there is a subtitle of “the latest in rock news” – which is design to promote the magazine based upon the word latest, meaning it is new so people will want to find out the news fast. I decided to put the main headline right in the middle of the cover to ensure that it is the first thing you see apart from the magazine title. Near the bottom, in equally large text, is the second most important headline, as this needs to be noticeable too. Then, scattered around the edges of the cover are the smaller headlines, and they are placed there in order to be out of the way of the main image of me in the middle of the magazine.

However, there are elements of the layout and presentation of the magazine that could be improved. For example, a lot of the font is too plain, and would benefit from an outline such as the one on the title. It would also draw the reader in more if there was a variation in colours of the font, instead of just all white font. In addition, I could also add banners at the top and bottom with small article titles on them and a barcode could also be added.
here is how i plan to layout my final magazine.
